Chrome beta

The Chrome extension is currently distributed as an unlisted beta. Use the official destination below when it is available:

Do not install copies from unofficial sources. The final button should point to the confirmed MediaChecker Chrome Web Store listing.

What you need

​

Normal beta use requires a hosted MediaChecker SafeGuard API that the extension can reach. The packaged beta is configured for the hosted endpoint `https://api.mediachecker.ca` unless an approved environment setting says otherwise.

​

If the hosted API is unavailable, the extension cannot complete its normal remote analysis. A local API such as `http://127.0.0.1:8000` is for development or controlled testing, not the ordinary installation path.

Firefox

​

Firefox support is coming soon. We will publish a separate Firefox installation link when that beta is ready.

​

No “Load unpacked” for normal users

​

You do not need Chrome's Load unpacked workflow for the normal beta. Install from the official unlisted Store destination once the link is live.

​

Load unpacked is a developer/testing workflow only and is not the recommended way for customers to install SafeGuard.

​

- Choose media you are allowed to process.

- Review the Privacy page.

- Remember that a beta result is an evidence aid, not proof of authorship, intent, or provenance.
